33 Weeks... and All is Well

Here we are at 33 weeks!! Things are going well with little Asher. He is growing (along with my belly!) right on schedule. What has not been on schedule, or at least our schedule, is the apartment project. Here we are in May, and it is going to be at least another few weeks before we are ready to move in. God is good, and he is sovereign and he knows all of our needs. We are starting to accumulate baby stuff in our current apartment, and quite frankly we are being taken over!
I was blessed with a wonderful baby shower last weekend, and received some awesome gifts. Lots of clothes, blankets, and other baby essentials that are now living in our living room/bedroom. Asher is going to be one finely dressed baby :)
My 'nesting' instinct is setting in, although there isn't much nesting I can do until we move into the new place. In the meantime I am making lists.... LOTS of lists, to at least get these things out of my head and onto paper. It still seems like there is so much to do before he arrives! Oh how our lives will change in ways we can't anticipate or plan for. That's part of the excitement of bringing home a new baby.
We got to have a tour of the birthing ward at our hospital this past week during our birthing class. It started to seem a lot more real when we were walking through the labor rooms and checking everything out. I think as the weeks get closer my nerves increase! I feel well prepared, but how can anybody REALLY be prepared for childbirth. I don't think you can. You can't know what it is going to be like, but you can learn prepare, and trust. Trust that my body was made by my creator to carry and birth this baby (and feed it, which is pretty amazing, I might add), and trust God that he is indeed in control of everything, and my ultimate trust is in him, not in my body or my techniques or my abilities. I'm working on making it a goal to write monthly, and maybe weekly after Asher is born, but we will see how that goes :) In the meantime we are watching my belly grow and anticipating getting to meet our son!
